  • How long will I be there?
We ask that you budget about 1 hour for your annual eye exam.
  • Will my eyes be dilated?
Part of an annual eye exam is checking the health of your eyes. A dilated eye exam allows the doctors to see the back of your eye, but leaves your eyes blurry up close for a few hours after the exam. At Studio Optix, we offer additional testing that surpasses traditional dilation and eliminates the need for drops and blurry vision.
  • How often do you recommend an eye exam?
You should have your eyes examined annually.
  • Do you see children?
We start seeing patients around age 5, when they can recognize shapes and letters.
  • WHAT IS OPTOS
Ultra wide image of your retina. It can replace the need to dilate, which can replace the need for drops and blurry vision at your exam.
  • EXPERIENCE PRECISION VISION: DISCOVER OUR STATE-OF-THE-ART AUTO REFRACTOR TECHNOLOGY!
An auto refractor is a tool eye doctors use to quickly figure out your glasses prescription. It checks how light moves through your eyes without you needing to do anything. It's fast and painless, helping your eye doctor find the right glasses for you in no time during your eye exam.
  • WHY WE USE THE 'PUFF TEST' NON CONTACT TONOMETER
We believe in making your eyecare experience as comfortable and safe as possible. That's why we've adopted the 'Puff Test' Non-Contact Tonometer for measuring eye pressure. Here's why it's our top choice: 1. Gentle & Non-Invasive: Instead of touching your eye, this technology uses a gentle puff of air. It's painless and reduces the risk of discomfort or infection. 2. Fast Results: You'll get accurate measurements quickly, meaning less time spent in the exam chair. 3. Accurate & Reliable: Despite being gentle, it provides precise measurements crucial for detecting conditions like glaucoma early. By using the 'Puff Test' Non-Contact Tonometer, we ensure your eye health is our top priority, delivering accurate, safe, and comfortable care every time."
  • HOW DOES THE ZEISS VISUAL FIELD TESTS FOR GLAUCOMA & MORE

  • UNVEILING EYE HEALTH WITH THE SPECULAR MICROSCOPE
Images one cell layer of your cornea (the front window of the eye). The specular microscope enables the viewer to study the morphology of the cells to look for any abnormalities indicating trauma. This type of microscope is helpful when identifying ocular conditions such as glaucoma, Fuchs' Dystrophy, and uveitis.
  • OCULUS KERATOGRAPH
Our Oculus Keratograph corneal topographer maps the cornea to determine and follow irregularities like and also offers advanced dry eye testing.
  • UNVEILING THE FUTURE: OCT (OPTICAL COHERENCE TOMOGRAPHY) BREAKTHROUGHS
Optical Coherence Tomography uses light to image sections of the eye down to microscopic layers. We can detect glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic changes before they become irreversible.
  • SAME DAY EYEWEAR
One thing that sets Studio Optix apart is our ability to produce top-quality prescription eyewear in record time. How do we do it? We are proud to have an in-store lab capable of same-day glasses. Recently, we invested in a brand new Santinelli edger to grind prescription lenses. Our new machine allows us to work on even more frame types, including sports frames with high wrap and grooved lenses once requiring specialty labs. We can handle complex drill mounts and also add intricate details to lenses like facets and custom edge treatments! You might say we EDGE out the competition... Our lab is fully stocked with single vision lenses, including high index lens materials to accommodate higher prescriptions. Other lens options like Transitions or Progressive lenses can often be provided same-day or within 24 hours. More complicated prescriptions and ultra-premium anti-reflective coatings will take a few business days longer. Tourists from all over the world often start and end their New York adventure at Studio Optix because we provide the BEST eyewear and FAST turnaround for their new prescriptions!! Are you ready for new glasses?
  • WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN POLARIZED AND UV PROTECTION SUNGLASSES?
The sun emits various types of radiation, including heat, visible light, and invisible ultraviolet (UV) rays, which can harm your eyes and skin. When choosing sunglasses, it's essential to understand the difference between UV protection and polarization. UV protection shields your eyes from harmful UV rays, while polarization minimizes glare caused by reflected light. Polarized sunglasses have filters that block horizontal light, reducing glare and preventing squinting. Investing in sunglasses with both UV protection and polarization is crucial for optimal eye care, as not all UV-blocking sunglasses are polarized, and vice versa. Shop carefully to ensure your sunglasses meet your needs. For more information or to purchase eyewear, contact Studio Optix at (212) 765-4444 in New York, New York.
  • HOW LONG ARE GLASSES PRESCRIPTIONS GOOD FOR?
Your eye doctor can prescribe eyeglasses to correct your vision, but prescriptions have expiration dates, usually lasting one to two years. It's important to get new glasses when needed to prevent eye strain and headaches. Signs you need new glasses include headaches, difficulty focusing, squinting, and blurry vision. Even without symptoms, annual eye exams are recommended to monitor vision and detect other eye conditions. Prescription expiration dates vary by location, so check local regulations. Schedule a comprehensive eye exam to get a new prescription from your eye doctor, and you can order glasses anywhere with an up-to-date prescription.
