Eye Examinations & Services

What types of eye care services do you provide?

We offer complete eye care services, including annual comprehensive vision exams, contact lens fittings, and emergency medical treatment for eye infections, dry eye, injuries, or sudden vision changes. Our exam technology also screens for underlying conditions like glaucoma, cataracts, diabetes, and hypertension.

How often should I get a comprehensive eye exam?

We recommend a comprehensive eye exam once a year. Annual exams ensure your prescription remains accurate while allowing our optometrists to monitor long-term ocular health and catch asymptomatic conditions early.

Do you accept emergency appointments?

Yes. If you are experiencing an eye infection, foreign object irritation, flashes or floaters, sudden pain, or injury, please call our office directly at (212) 765-4444 for immediate assistance.

Do you see children?

Yes! We see children starting around age 7. Early eye exams are crucial for detecting conditions like amblyopia (lazy eye) when treatment is most effective. We carry a great selection of fun, durable kid-friendly frames, and we offer specialized solutions like Essilor Stellest lenses for active myopia management to help slow down prescription changes.

Do I need an eye exam if I don’t wear glasses?

Yes! Seeing clearly doesn't guarantee your eyes are healthy, as serious conditions like glaucoma, macular degeneration, and dry eye syndrome often develop silently without initial pain or vision loss. An annual comprehensive exam evaluates your internal eye health, screens for systemic issues like high blood pressure and diabetes, and checks for digital eye strain—protecting both your vision and overall well-being.

Are the doctors at Studio Optix optometrists or ophthalmologists?

At Studio Optix, our team includes highly skilled optometrists who serve as your primary eye care providers, specializing in annual comprehensive exams, precise prescriptions, contact lens evaluations, and treating common eye infections. While ophthalmologists are medical doctors focused primarily on surgical procedures and complex eye diseases, our optometrists manage your day-to-day visual health and preventative care. Should your eyes require surgical intervention or specialized medical procedures, we will seamlessly refer you directly to the trusted hands of top specialists.

How long is my eye exam?

Please budget about 1 hour for your eye exam. This allows us sufficient time with the doctor and to answer any questions regarding your vision insurance benefits.

Eyewear & Lenses

What makes your frame selection unique?

We feature the largest selection of eyewear in NYC — over 5,000 frames across 100+ luxury and independent designer brands. Our opticians work closely with you to find frames that fit both your prescription needs, personal aesthetic, and budget.

Do you offer same-day glasses or lens replacement?

Yes! Thanks to our fully equipped on-site optical laboratory, we can cut and deliver select prescription lenses and complete standard single-vision orders on the same day.

Can I put new prescription lenses into my own frames?

Absolutely. Our opticians can inspect your existing frames to ensure they are in good structural condition and fit them with updated prescription lenses.

How much are glasses?

We proudly offer NYC’s largest selection of frames in all styles and price ranges. Frames start at $100 and up. Most of our inventory comes from independent designers, whose frames are handcrafted from start to finish. These frames typically range from $400–$800 due to the materials and often limited nature of production.

What progressive lenses do you use?

We work with all major lens manufacturers like Zeiss, Shamir, Varilux, and Hoya. We also have our own custom progressive lens design available in all lens materials and cosmetic treatments, offering a top-tier lens at a very competitive price.

Contact Lenses

Do you fit specialty contact lenses for conditions like keratoconus?

Yes. In addition to standard daily, bi-weekly, and monthly disposable lenses, we specialize in complex and medically necessary contact lens fittings. We fit scleral lenses, rigid gas permeable (RGP) lenses, custom toric lenses, and hybrid materials.

Can I order my contact lenses directly through Studio Optix?

Yes. We offer competitive pricing that often beats online retailers, access to higher manufacturer rebates, and FREE direct home shipping on all contact lens orders!

How do I reorder contacts online?

If your prescription is on file with us, reordering takes about a minute: shop your lenses on this site, tell us how many boxes you need for each eye, and add to cart — we match each eye to your prescription automatically at fulfillment. No uploading, no typing in your Rx.

Insurance & Payments

Which insurance plans do you accept?

We participate with many major vision and medical insurance providers.

Vision Plans (Exams + Materials): VSP, EyeMed, Davis Vision, Cigna Vision, MetLife Vision, Superior Vision, VBA, and more.

Medical Plans (Exams/Emergency Care): Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, Medicare, Oxford, and more.

If you don't see your provider listed, reach out to our team at (212) 765-4444, and we’ll help you understand your out-of-network benefits.

Can I use my FSA or HSA for glasses, contacts, and exams?

Yes! Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) and Health Savings Accounts (HSA) can be used for comprehensive eye exams, prescription eyeglasses, prescription sunglasses, and contact lenses.
